ALPINE chalet

Chalet at the base of Nub's Nob, Harbor Springs, Michigan

Rather than replicate the traditional ski chalet, this concept explores what gives the building type its enduring character. Familiar elements—including a low-pitched roof, generous overhangs, split-level organization, balconies, and Nordic folk motifs—were distilled into their essential forms and thoughtfully reimagined through a contemporary lens. A sculptural concrete base and chimney ground the home within the landscape, while dark metal siding and a continuous wood railing create a bold graphic identity inspired by the retro visual language of nearby Nub's Nob. The result is a warm, modern retreat that honors regional tradition and nostalgia.
