I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START. WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
It all begins by contacting me. I'll send you a link to this questionnaire or I'll ask you these questions during our initial phone call. Then, we'll schedule a meeting to discuss all of your needs and wants to map out the exact scope of the project, and, if local, to see the project site. From there I will develop a contract so you know exactly what you're getting, the time frame, and the design cost. You will also receive a welcome packet that outlines the process, billing & payments, and other good to know items. Next, we go into design development. The fun part: modern floor plans and elevations to make sure you get contemporary architecture that perfectly fulfills your needs. At this point, the drawings are preliminary and can be used to gather rough estimates from contractors, if necessary. Then, either construction or bid documents are produced and the project heads into construction. Sometimes, this is the end of my role in the project. Sometimes, I am hired to oversee the project during construction (Construction Administration).
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Unless it's a special situation, all of my contracts are a flat fee, based on the scope of the project. You will be aware of this amount shortly after our first meeting. A retainer of 10-25% is required prior to any work being performed. Anything ordered through me for interior projects requires 100% payment prior to ordering.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
A large modern office design , new restaurant or new modern mansion design can take several months to finalize. Smaller scale home remodeling, modern interior design, small office design, coffee shop design, etc typically have a turn around, on the design end, of 2-4 weeks. I will let you know the turnaround time after our first meeting and I know the scope of the project.
CAN I WORK WITH YOU IF I'M NOT LOCAL?
Of course! I am local to Tecumseh, Michigan and service Ann Arbor, Detroit, Northville, and Birmingham as well as Leelenau County. I also service Chicago, northern Indiana, Ohio, and California. Depending on the location, there may be additional travel fees incurred but technology makes it possible to keep travel (and fees) to a minimum. For interior design projects, I offer an e-design service for non-local clients.
WE HAVE/DON'T HAVE A CONTRACTOR. IS THAT OK?
Absolutely. I am happy to work with a contractor you already have on board. I have also worked with several contractors over the years and I have a select few that I would be glad to recommend.
